1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the United Nations Act.
2. Regulations
(1)Where under article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations, the Security Council of the United Nations calls upon the Government of Mauritius to apply a measure to give effect to a decision of that Council, the President may make such regulations as he thinks fit to enable the measure to be effectively applied.(2)No regulations made under this Act shall be held to be invalid on the ground that they deal with a matter already provided for by an enactment or on the ground of repugnancy to any other enactment.[S. 2 amended by Act 48 of 1991.]
3. Offence
(1)Any person who contravenes, in Mauritius or elsewhere, any regulations made under this Act shall commit an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable in the case of—(a)an individual, to a fine not exceeding 1,000 rupees or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months; or(b)a body corporate, to a fine not exceeding 5,000 rupees.(2)Nothing in this Act shall be so construed or operate to take away or restrict the liability of a person for an offence punishable independently of this Act.
