1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Commonwealth Secretariat (Privileges and Immunities of Officers) Act.2. Interpretation
In this Act—"Commonwealth Secretariat" means the Commonwealth Secretariat established at the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Meeting of June 1965;"Minister" means the Minister to whom responsibility for the subject of external affairs is assigned.3. Privileges and immunities of officers
Every officer of the Commonwealth Secretariat, other than a citizen of Mauritius, and any member of his family forming part of his household shall have the like privileges and immunities as are accorded to a diplomatic agent and the members of his family forming part of his household under the Diplomatic Relations Act.4. Waiver of privileges and immunities
The privileges and immunities conferred by section 3 upon an officer of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the members of his family forming part of his household may be waived by the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat or any person for the time being exercising his functions.5. Evidence
Where in any proceedings any question arises whether or not any person is entitled to any privilege or immunity under section 3, a certificate issued by or under the authority of the Minister stating any fact relevant to that question shall be conclusive evidence of that fact.History of this document
