1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Students' Relief Fund Act.2. Interpretation
In this Act—"authorised officer" means such officer of the Ministry responsible for the subject of education as may be designated by the Minister;"Fund" means the Students' Relief Fund established under section 3;"Minister" means the Minister to whom responsibility for the subject of education is assigned;"student" means a student who is a citizen of Mauritius and who is pursuing studies outside Mauritius.[S. 2 amended by s. 3 of Act 18 of 2006 w.e.f. 26 August 2006.]3. Establishment of Fund
There is established for the purposes of this Act a Students' Relief Fund.4. ***

The authorised officer shall, in accordance with directions given by the Minister, provide, out of the money accruing to the Fund, assistance to needy students on such terms and conditions as the Minister may determine.6. Regulations
